ALTON, VA — Conner Kearby and father Gaston both found their way to the podium together for the first time during the 2014 Atlantic Championship Series when they completed Race 5 with a 2-3 finish at Virginia International Raceway.

The 7th and 8th-qualified Kearby’s worked their way through the upper part of the field, benefiting from mechanical failures from points leader and fellow K-Hill Motorsports driver Daniel Burkett during the pace lap and then-2nd place Ethan Ringel during lap 12 of the 15-lap race.

Yet they were unable to chase down Jimmy Simpson, who led the field, setting a new track record of 1:42.993 in the process.

Sunday’s Race 6 found their Swift 016s finishing 6th and 7th, with Gaston besting Conner’s performance by just 3 seconds at the finish line.

Next up for the Atlantic Championship Series is an Independence Day weekend at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course July 4th-6th.
